On the heels of numerous sold-out shows, Dead & Company are announcing additional U.S. dates. Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir joined forces with singer/guitarist John Mayer to form the band Dead & Company. The band will take the stage at a series of shows this Fall including two nights at the legendary Madison Square Garden and will perform two sets of music drawing largely from the Dead’s historic catalog of songs.
Conspicuously, the fourth member of the purportedly just-retired Grateful Dead, bassist Phil Lesh, opted not to be part of this new musical “Company,” whose repertoire focuses on (surprise!) Grateful Dead songs. That may be because Lesh still recalls the finality of his quote announcing the band’s five Fare Thee Well farewell shows earlier this year: “It is with respect and gratitude that we reconvene the Dead one last time to celebrate — not merely the band’s legacy, but also the community that we’ve been playing to, and with, for fifty years.”
Top tier tickets will be priced under $100, and a number of $50 tickets will be made available in most markets to honor of the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary.
